A huge and very belated thanks to trombonist Paul Fleming and the Artemisia Quintet
The recording has been uploaded and is available for streaming on this site.  Also, as
always, a thank you to my colleagues at the Boston New Music Initiative for allowing
another opportunity for the performance of my music to take place.

It's been an exciting and busy summer thus far.  I turned 30 in June and surprisingly
feel great about it.  Also in June, I proposed to Erin and she fortunately (for me)
accepted, so we are now officially engaged!  We took a road trip out to Iowa for a
wedding at the end of June, and made a few stops along the way to see close family and
friends in Cleveland, Lansing, and Traverse City.

Aside from that, I'm teaching private tennis and composition lessons in addition to
working at a summer tennis camp in Ludlow, and continuing to plug away with my
seemingly never-ending work with BNMI, and we're excited that many of our
ambitious plans for our second concert season are already starting to fall into place.
I'm also starting to compose again after a bit of a prolonged layoff due to everything
else going on in my life, and I'm looking forward to finishing up a number of projects
and hope to get some performances out of those in the near future.  Will try to update
a bit more regularly moving forward!

I recently learned that at long last, my debut on a commercial CD recording has
arrived.  My 2005 work "In Memoriam" for symphony orchestra was recorded in the
summer of 2007 by the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor
Robert Ian Winstin.  (I have since done some substantial re-orchestration to this work,
which was premiered at the 2008 Midwest Composers Symposium, but I am
nonetheless extremely pleased with how this recording turned out.)  This recording
appears in the most recent release (Volume 15) of ERM Media's "Masterworks of the
New Era" series.  The 3-disc set is available for purchase at numerous online music
stores;
Amazon offers not only the CD but individual tracks for sale as MP3s.  The
album is also available on iTunes (searching is a little tricky, but if you do a search by
composer using "Timothy A. Davis," my track is entitled "In Memoriam").

Boston New Music Initiative Inaugural Concert (hosted by JP Concerts)
St. John's Episcopal Church
7:30 PM

The Boston New Music Initiative inaugural concert was a smashing success.  The
concert featured the work of nine different composers, seven of whom were in
attendance for the concert.  We had an excellent crowd and are looking forward to the
next two concerts of our first season.

The concert also included the world premiere of my new song cycle (
I Am Not
Yours
)for soprano and string quartet.  The work was performed by soprano Erin M.
Smith, to whom the work is dedicated; Olga Kradenova and Olga Patramanskaya on
violin; Brooke Carroll on viola; Matthew Laughlin on violoncello; and conducted by
Sam Stapleton.  A recording of my work from the premiere performance can be
streamed in the music section of this site.
